Snapchat : Inappropriate & Desperate?

Sharing is caring!

Cosmopolitan Magazine introduced a new channel on Snapchat called “Cosmo After Dark”. “It is an X-rated weekly edition that goes live every Friday at 6 p.m. and is exclusively dedicated to all things hot and h*rny.” Cosmopolitan magazine

Is this a desperate move by Snapchat in trying to gain more users? With the large percentage of their users being tweens and young teens is this really the right channel for this app?

Snapchat claims that their app is appropriate for 13 years and above. With such content floating around I think they should change their minimum age requirement.

Why you should be worried about this?

If you are still not convinced, i’d like to show you what I found. The images below are screenshots from Snapchat. There are many more than this but I cannot paste them here as it gets to pornographoc

What should you do if your tween is already using Snapchat?

Taking their phone away is not going to solve the problem. The best you can do is to have an open and honest communication with them. Ask them if they have come across any content that seems inappropriate. Tell them that they may not be ready for such content. Let them know that you are available if they need to ask you anything.

If they have already been exposed to this channel then it is best to help them understand the difference between what they see online and what actual sexuality is like is crucial. You will need to have the talk with them.

And lastly don’t forget to always be part of their digital life.

Don’t forget to stay safe online
